Canine Brain Transection Through Midbrain

A canine brain was transected through the midbrain and stained with luxol blue (white matter) and cresyl violet (gray matter). Telencephalon surrounds the midbrain. In the deep wall of the telencephalon notice the hippocampus (h) which forms the medial wall of the lateral ventricle (l.v.). To see a more rostral section through the hippocampus, click here.
