Cerebellar Input Connections

Input to the cerebellum comes from motor control centers and from proprioceptors. Via pontine nuclei, transverse pontine fibers, and the middle cerebellar peduncle, motor areas of the cerebral cortex inform the cerebellum of motor expectations. Via spinocerebellar tracts and the caudal cerebellar peduncle, proprioceptive status reaches the cerebellum (some spinocerebellar fibers traverse the rostral cerebellar peduncle).
The olivary nucleus also receives motor control input and proprioceptive input. Olivary neurons send climbing fibers to the cerebellum via the caudal cerebellar peduncle. Click for cerebellar output.
