Pyramidal Cells (Golgi Stain)

A pyramidal cell (left) features a pyramid-shaped cell body, a long apical dendrite, multiple basal dendrites, and a single axon (not evident) that runs into underlying white matter. The arrow (right) points to shadows of granular cells in horizontal layer II (granular cells are better seen in a Nissl stain).
