Cardiovascular Anomalies - Image 11
Peritoneo-Pericardial Diaphragmatic Hernia (PPDH) in a 5 yr old Briard. Liver and falciform fat are herniated. The cardiac silhouette is enlarged causing dorsal elevation of the trachea (1). The edges of the cardiac silhouette are sharp indicating that the herniated material is in the pericardial sac rather than the pleural cavity. The silhouette overlaps the cranial surface of the diaphragm (arrow). Courtesy of Dr. Chris Ober. Reference: JAVMA 244:157-159 (2014).
