Unilateral microphthalmia in a two year old horse. This eye (arrow) appeared to be blind but the other was normal (courtesy of Dr. C. Ormond). The Kentucky study of equine congenital defects found 28 cases of microphthalmia or anophthalmia in 608 foals with defects (AJVR 46:353-358, 1985).
