Left: The trochlear nucleus is located in the midbrain, near the midline, ventral to periaqueductal gray matter. Axons from the trochlear nucleus stream dorsally and emerge caudal to the midbrain. Trochlear nerve fibers decussate in the roof of the fourth ventricle.
