Diencephalon (Dorsal View)

The diencephalon is outlined in red in this dorsal view of the brainstem. The thalamus (2), lateral geniculate body (4), and medial geniculate body (5) are visible. (Note: the two geniculate bodies (nuclei) are sometimes refered to together as the metathalmus.).
