Dorsal View of a Spinal Cord within Meninges

Dura mater and arachnoid are reflected to show a spinal cord segement. The dorsal root is composed of rootlets which enter the spinal cord at the dorsolateral sulcus. (The ventral root also has rootlets.)

The spinal cord is invested by three layers of meninges. From inside out these include the pia mater, arachnoid, and dura mater. Processes of denticulate ligament suspend the spinal cord within the dura mater and subarachnoid space. The denticulate ligament is formed by pia mater.
