Basket Cell Basket

A basket cell (BC) sends dendrites (d) into the molecular layer. The axon (a) of the basket cell runs transversely in the folium and forms "basket" synaptic contacts (b) around initial segment of a Purkinje cell axon. A climbing fiber (c.fiber) is shown in red.
