Equine Brainstem — Lateral View
Lateral view of an equine brainstem (the cerebrum is detached by cutting internal capsule). Ventrally the optic nerve (II), optic chiasm (X), and optic tract (ot) are labeled. The optic tract leads to the lateral geniculate body (lg), which is dorsal and rostral to the medial geniculate body (mg). A mamillary body (m) is evident at the caudal level of the hypothalamus.
