Brain Anatomy Introduction CLOSE
Canine Forebrain Transection
Transverse section through the telencephalon and diencephalon of a canine brain (white matter is stained blue). The corpus callosum (cc) crosses the midline, connecting with cerebral white matter bilaterally. The cingulate gyrus (cing) is located immediately dorsal to the corpus callosum. Ventral to the corpus callosum, the floor of the lateral ventricle (lat) is formed by hippocampus (hip) and fimbria (unlabeled).

Notice that the internal capsule (IC) connects the thalamus with cerebral hemisphere, bilaterally. The asterisk marks the interthalamic adhesion, where thalamus of right and left sides meet. Click here to return to the surface view.
