Spinal Cord Anatomy CLOSE
Spinal Cord Segments (Slide A-2)
Glass slide A-2 from the Neuroanatomy slide box contains four transections of a canine spinal cord: C-3, T-6, L-6, & S-2. In each section, identify the central canal, gray matter (butterfly-shaped), and surrounding white matter (stained blue). Spinal roots are evident external to the spinal segments; roots are more abundant surrounding the caudal segments, as you would expect. Meninges enclose the spinal segments and roots. Pieces of ventral root and spinal ganglion are present external to the L-6 specimen.
