Spinal Cord Anatomy CLOSE
Denticulate Ligament Transected
A denticulate ligament (D Lig.) is sectioned transversely at the margin of the spinal cord, including a process extending toward arachnoid (A) and dura mater (Dura). Notice that the denticulate ligament is a thickening of collagen associated with pia mater (P) on the surface of spinal white matter (Sp W). Flattened fibrocytes line the subarachnoid space (surfaces of pia mater, denticulate ligament, and arachnoid). Also visible are a dorsal root (DR) and ventral root (VR), the latter has a uniform population of fiber sizes.
