Spinal White Matter Fibers
Spinal white matter is composed of afferent and efferent and tract fibers. Branches of primary afferent neurons from dorsal roots contribute to the dorsal funiculus. Axons from efferent neurons pass through the ventral funiculus to enter the ventral root. The rest of the white matter is composed of tract fibers, including ascending tracts to the brain, descending tracts from the brain, and fasciculus proprius fibers traveling between spinal cord segments.
