Equine Infundibular Necrosis

Ventral view of upper cheek teeth. Both M1 (first molar) teeth shown by arrows have necrosis (decay) of the infolded enamel known as an infunbibulum, hence infundibular necrosis. Except for the inconstant wolf tooth, the M1 tooth is the first permanent tooth to erupt. Therefore, M1 is exposed to more stress than other teeth and is more likely to be diseased.
