Baboon Skull

Baboons are large, old-world primates. The skull of the baboon resembles a dog skull in several ways. It has a long muzzle like the dog while most other primates have a more human-like "flat" face. Secondly, the baboon has a midline bony crest on the back half of the skull indicating well developed jaw closing (temporalis) muscles. Differing from the dog, the baboon has a prominent bony ridge around the orbits (eye sockets).
