Bladder Trigone Diagram
The bladder trigone is evident as a triangular area on the dorsal internal wall of the bladder neck. The trigone functions to attach ureters to the bladder neck and urethra. The cranial border of the trigone is formed by longitudinal muscle fascicles from each ureter crossing the midline. The lateral borders and apex are formed by ureter longitudinal muscle that continues caudally into the urethral crest. The urethral crest runs to the colliculus seminalis in males. In females the crest runs the length of the urethra.
