The pons is included in this transverse section through a canine brain. The ventral pons is formed by transvsere pontine fibers that form the middle cerebellar peduncle. The trigemnnal nerve exits through the pedundle. Pontine nuclei are deep to the superficial fibers. The pontine tegmentum is dorsal to the ventral pons and the fourth ventricle is dorsal to the tegmentum.
