The medulla oblongata is located caudal to the pons. The pyramid (indistinct here) runs beside the ventral midline of the medulla oblongata.The roof of the fourth ventricle is formed rostrally by rostral medullary vellum and caudally by caudal medullary vellum which gives rise to bilateral choroid plexuses.
