Equine Brain Median View
The right half of a dissected equine brain is shown in median view. The rostral colliculus of the mesencephalon (6) and the mesencephalic aqueduct (green pic) are visible. The region dorsal to the aqueduct is called tectum and the region ventral to it is called tegmentum. (Labeled diencephalic structures include: habenular nucleus (red pic), interthalamic adhesion (3), third ventricle (4), optic chiasm (white), and mamillary body (blue).
