The brainstem is visible in this median view of a dissected equine brain. Features of the diencepahlon include the interthalamic adhesion (3), third ventricle (4), optic chiasm (white), mamillary body (blue), and habenular nucleus (red). Midbrain features are rostral colliculus (6) and mesencepahlic aqueduct (green). The fourth ventricle (5) and ventral pons are evident.
