Dorsal view of the head and neck in a fresh tissue specimen. Superficial muscles move the ear. Identify rostral auricular mm. (1) which attach to a scutiform cartilage (2) plate in addition to attaching to the auricular cartilage (3) which forms the pinna (auricle) of the ear. Caudal auricular mm. (4) are partially removed. A temporal m. (5), which closes the jaw, is located deep to the auricular muscles.
In the neck, dorsal cutaneous nerves (6) can be seen emerging from the midline and slips of a cutaneus colli m. (7) are evident.
