Branches of the femoral artery (1). A superficial circumflex iliac a. and a lateral circumflex femoral a. are given off individually or in a common trunk (2). The proximal caudal femoral a. (3), middle caudal femoral a. (4), and distal caudal femoral a. (5) supply caudal musculature. The saphenous a. (6) and saphenous nerve (7) run superficially on the medial surface of the stifle and crus. A descending genicular a. (8) is evident.
