Transverse section through the root of the penis and the scrotum in a dog. The penile urethra (1) is surrounded by corpus spongiosum penis (2) which forms the bulb of the penis (3). The bulb of the penis is covered by bulbospongiosus m. (4). Notice the retractor penis m. (5) at the top. Bilaterally, corpus cavernosum penis (6) is covered by ischiocavernosus m. (7) at the root of the penis.
The scrotum contains a compartment for each testis (8) and epididymis (9). The ductus deferens (10) has a thick wall.
