Cat dissection, ventral view. In preparation for opening the thoracic cavity, incise the sternal attachment of the deep pectoral m. (1) and reflect it cranially. Cut the cranial aponeurosis of the rectus abdominis m. (2) and reflect the muscle caudally. Notice the cranial epigastric artery (3) on the deep abdominal surface of the rectus abdominis m. (Axillary vessels and brachial plexus nerves are visible (4).)
