Cervicothoraciic junction: The iliocostalis system (1) ends in the thoracic region. The longissimus system (2) continues into the neck and onto the head. The transversospinalis system (3) is expanded in the neck region. The splenius m. (4) belongs to the transversospinalis system.

Also notice: the serratus dorsalis cranialis m. (5), the serratus ventralis m. (6), and the trapezius m. (7).
