Thoracolumbar deep fascia (1) and certain hypaxial muscles have been reflected to reveal epaxial muscles. Fascicles of epaxial musculature are organized into three longitudinal systems. From lateral to medial, identify the iliocostalis system (2), the longissimus system (3), and the transversospinalis system (4). In the lumbar region, epaxial muscle systems are fused (5).
Other muscles include: middle gluteal (6), latissimus dorsi (7), and the cervical part of cleidocephalicus (8).
