Intrinsic muscles of the thoracic limb: Three muscles of the lateral scapular region can be seen in this specimen. The two parts of the deltoideus m. (asterisks) have both been transected. The infraspinatus m. (1) is mostly hidden by the deltoideus m. Hidden by extrinsic muscles, the supraspinatus m. (2) is located cranial to the spine of the scapula. Other intrinsic limb muscles that are visible include: long (3) and lateral (4) heads of the triceps brachii m.; the teres major m. (5); and several antebrachial mm. (6).
Can you identify the following extrinsic muscles? cleidobrachialis m. (7); pectoral mm. (8); omotransversarius m. (9); trapezius cervicis m.(10) and trapezius thoracis m. (11); and latissimus dorsi m. (12).
