Extrinsic muscles of the thoracic limb: Superficial (1) and deep (2) pectoral mm. and the brachiocephalicus m. (3) have been cut. The five remaining extrinsic muscles now have to be identified and cut in preparation for detaching the thoracic limb.

The omotransversarius m. (4) runs cranially from the limb. The trapezius m. (5) is dorsal and superficial. The rhomboideus m. (6) is dorsal and deep. The latissimus dorsi m. (7) is caudal and the serratus ventralis m. (8) is medial.
