Cat, ventral view of the neck and thorax. Pectoral muscles of the cat are similar to those of the dog, except that they attach more distally in the brachium. Notice that the superficial pectoral m. extends almost to the elbow in the cat; whereas, it extends only to the middle of the brachium in the dog (preceding image). Also, in the cat, muscle fascicles (asterisk) join the superficial pectoral muscle to the brachiocephalicus m., obscuring the borders of both muscles.
Identify: descending (1) and transverse (2) parts of the superficial pectoral m.; deep pectoral m. (3); brachiocephalicus m. (4); sternocephalicus m. (5) and external jugular vein (6).
