Rostral Pons
CLOSE
Figure 18—14. Transverse section through the rostral half of the pons. Axons of the rostral cerebellar peduncle are evident dorsally and profiles of the middle cerebellar peduncle and trigeminal nerve are evident bilaterally. Notice that trigeminal nerve axons join the pons and run toward the pontine sensory nucleus and motor nucleus of the trigeminal nerve. The ventral pons is structurally distinct compared to the pontine tegmentum where reticular formation is prominent. (Luxol Fast Blue – Cresyl Violet stain.)
