Right Vagus Nerve
Right lateral view of the vagus nerve in a canine thorax. The vagosympathetic nerve trunk is continued as vagus nerve caudal to the middle cervical ganglion (asterisk). In the vicinity of the ganglion, the right vagus nerve gives off the recurrent laryngeal nerve, which hooks around the subclavian artery. The vagus nerve divides into dorsal and ventral branches; vagal nerve trunks are formed when right and left branches combine. The vagus nerve sends branches to the heart and lungs (the branches are not preserved in this dissection).
