Parasympathetic Oculomotor Nucleus
The location of the parasympathetic oculomotor nucleus is shown in drawings of sagittal (top) and transverse (bottom) sections of the brainstem and midbrain. The parasympathetic nucleus (visceral efferent neurons) occupies the rostral end of the oculomotor nucleus, which is composed of somatic efferent neurons. Both visceral efferent and somatic efferent fibers run in the oculmotor nerve to the orbit.
