Parasympathetic Path of Glossopharyngeal Nerve
Drawing of selected cranial nerve branches from Miller's Anatomy of the Dog textbook. The glosssopharyngeal nerve innervates parotid and zygomatic salivary glands. Preganglionic axons run (through the middle ear) in the tympanic nerve and minor petrosal nerve to reach the otic ganglion. Postganglionic axons reach the parotid and zygomatic salivary glands by joining branches of the mandibular nerve (auriculotemporal and buccal nerves, respectively).
