Canine Cranial Cervical Ganglion
Medial view of the right cranial cervical ganglion (cr cerv gang) following dissection in the dog (rostral is to toward the left of the image). The cervical sympathetic trunk (c symp trunk) and the vagus nerve combine to form the vagosympathetic trunk (v-s trunk). The vagus nerve gives off the cranial laryngeal nerve (cran laryn n). Other visible nerves are the glossopharyngeal (IX) and the accessory (XI). The common carotid artery (com carotid a) terminates in external and internal carotid arteries A carotid sinus (asterisk) is evident as an enlargement of the origin of the internal carotid artery (int carotid). Also labeled are the pharynx and tympanic bulla (tymp bulla).
